Common Questions

STUDENT STORAGE LONDON FAQ

Everything below is specific to UniLug's London service. Pricing is current at the time of writing — see the London prices page for the full breakdown.

How does student storage in London work?
You book online and choose a collection date. UniLug delivers flat-pack boxes to your London address for free, then a driver collects your packed boxes and suitcases from your room — free from any floor. Your items are kept in a secure, CCTV-monitored facility for as long as you need, then delivered back to any London address on the date you choose. You never have to visit a storage unit yourself.
How much does student storage in London cost?
UniLug storage starts from £5.95/box per month on the Year Away plan (5–12 months). Summer storage (3 months) is £7.25/box and Term Break (1 month) is £12.10/box. Return delivery is £7.99/box to any London address, and insurance cover up to £110 per box is included. If you need boxes, Medium boxes are £3.95 and Large boxes are £5.95. There are no admin fees and no minimum spend. See the full price breakdown or the cheapest-storage guide.
Is door-to-door student storage different from self storage?
Yes. With traditional self storage you rent a unit and transport your belongings to and from it yourself. With UniLug's door-to-door service, a driver collects your boxes from your accommodation and delivers them back when you need them — you never visit a facility. Door-to-door storage can be simpler than self storage because collection and return delivery are arranged for you. Students should compare the full cost, including travel, van hire, access time, and delivery, before deciding. See our door-to-door vs self storage comparison.
Can students store luggage over summer?
Yes. Summer storage is one of the most common reasons London students use UniLug — store boxes and suitcases while you go home or travel over the summer break, from £7.25/box for three months. We collect before you leave and deliver everything back to your London address when you return for the new term. More on summer storage.
Can UniLug collect from London student halls?
Yes. UniLug collects from university halls and private student accommodation across London, including upper floors, at no extra charge. You choose a collection date and time slot when you book, and the driver messages you ahead of arrival.
Which London universities does UniLug serve?
UniLug serves students at universities right across London. We have dedicated information pages for 14, including UCL, LSE, King's College London, Imperial, Queen Mary (QMUL), UAL, City, SOAS, Birkbeck, Westminster, UEL, London South Bank (LSBU), Goldsmiths and Greenwich. If your university isn't listed, we almost certainly still cover your address — just check at booking. See all London university pages.
Can international students use UniLug?
Yes. UniLug is popular with international students who need to store their belongings in London while they go home over the summer or between terms. We collect before you fly out and deliver everything back to your London address when you return — no need to take it all with you or visit a storage facility. More for international students.
What can students store?
You can store clothes, books, bedding, kitchenware, electronics, suitcases and most personal belongings. Items go in UniLug boxes — Medium (45 × 40 × 40 cm) and Large (70 × 45 × 45 cm) — and suitcases can be stored as they are. We can't store hazardous, perishable or illegal items.
How do collection and return delivery work?
When you book, you pick a collection date and time slot. UniLug delivers free boxes beforehand if you need them, then a driver collects your packed boxes and suitcases. Everything is stored securely until you want it back. When you're ready, you book a return delivery and we bring your items to any London address for £7.99 per box.
How do I book student storage in London?
Booking takes a few minutes online — choose your plan, number of boxes and a collection date, and you're done. You can also message UniLug on WhatsApp if you have questions first. Free boxes and free collection are included, so there's nothing to pay for pickup. Start your booking.
